Pacifics Introduce New Mascot
Marin Municipal Water District Launches “Stop The Running Toilet” Campaign
San Rafael, CA- In partnership with the Marin Municipal Water District (MMWD), the San Rafael Pacifics introduced a new member of their game day staff, “John the Running Toilet”.
John will appear at each Pacifics home game and at MMWD events to remind people to watch out for leaking toilets that can waste up to 200 gallons of water a day and cause monthly water bills to increase up to $500.
John will appear at Pacifics games in a new between inning contest where kids will be tasked to stop the running toilet and he’ll also be handing out MMWD information to Pacifics fans in the stands. John is also slated to make MMWD appearances throughout the year in an effort to increase water conservation awareness.
“I’m overjoyed to have John join me at Pacifics games,” said veteran mascot Sir Francis the Drake. “He’ll help call attention to the serious problem of leaking toilets, but I want it to be clear…I still rule the roost and will flush him down during the mascot race.”
The “Running Toilet” campaign joins the MMWD’s “Get Dirty with the Pacifics” program focusing attention on Marin’s continuing need for water conservation awareness. During the 2016 season the Pacifics didn’t wash their uniforms following a game with a crowd of 500 or more fans. The Pacifics have estimated that they saved over 1,200 gallons of water last season. They hope fans will continue to support the team and, thus, help them save water.
