Pacifics Welcome Napa Silverados to Pacific Association of Professional Baseball
Napa Silverados team owner Bruce Johnston, who has been testing Napa's appetite for professional baseball over the past six months, has decided to commit the team to joining the Pacific Association of Professional Baseball Clubs starting next June.
"It's obvious to me that Napans are ready and willing to support a professional baseball team," said Johnston, a Napa resident for the past decade. "I thank Napa for embracing the idea of using baseball to build community spirit and bring affordable family fun to the Valley's great communities. I formally notified the league yesterday that I will move forward in bringing professional baseball to Napa.”
The Pacifics were the first team this past May to play a professional game in Napa. Napa Valley College, the future home of the Silverados, hosted the Pacifics and the New Jersey Black Sox for an exhibition game, giving Napa fans a preview of what baseball will look like in Napa.
"This is such an exciting day for the Pacific Association as a whole." said Pacifics President and General Manager Mike Shapiro. "The addition of the Silverados will help grow the league and in turn give Napa fans what we in San Rafael are so grateful to have, which is a team the community can bond around."
Johnston is seeking additional sponsors and stadium advertisers to support the team and community youth groups and nonprofits who will benefit from team sponsorships. He is available at (707) 254-8377 and firstname.lastname@example.org.
