ALBERT PARK HISTORY
Lending Hand Foundation
Over its seasons, the San Rafael Pacifics have actively demonstrated their commitment to serving the City of San Rafael and the broader Marin County community by effectuating the team’s community relations mission statement:
“The San Rafael Pacifics organization will use the game of baseball as a platform for encouraging the under-served children of Marin County to live healthy, happy lives while promoting the importance of education and sportsmanship.”
The Pacifics have maintained a broad and notable presence in outreach and service to the community, culminating in being named the “2015 Large Business of the Year” in San Rafael and a recipient of the “Spirit of Marin” award. In 2017, the Pacifics were honored with the “Business Diversity Award” by the Marin County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
The Pacifics front office staff and local players made appearances at local elementary schools such as Sun Valley, Edna Maguire, and Lu Sutton to name a few. As well, we regularly speak at the local Rotary Clubs and other service groups in the area, namely we were keynote speakers at Club of Marin Sunrise, Rotary Club of Ross Valley, and Mission San Rafael Rotary, among many others.
Our youth baseball programs have become a significant element of our Community Relations efforts. The Pacifics are regular guests of honor at Little League opening day ceremonies in West Marin, San Rafael, Terra Linda, Twin Cities and Tiburon Little Leagues. At the various ceremonies, we have had players present as well as our mascot, Sir Francis the Drake. From those events, we then partnered with all of the little leagues in the area and provided complimentary tickets to over 3,000 kids in the ten Little League organizations in Marin County.
In 2019, the Pacifics began a foundation called Lending Hand. This foundation helps underprivileged children in Marin County and provides housing opportunities for our players.
